Establish a strong foundation on your path to learning herbal medicine with our Foundations of Holistic Course. This class sequence offers an excellent introduction to herbal medicine by combining of hands-on learning, lecture, projects and getting out in the field to harvest and create a variety of herbal medicines. We offer this course in two formats: A fully in person course and a hybrid course that meets some sessions online and two full day in person sessions, both classes cover the same content. We will cover an array of Pennsylvania-based medicinal herbs, how to make a variety of herbal medicines (tinctures, salves, liniments, herbal vinegars, bitters, and teas), and how herbs apply to basic systems of the body. We will also present an integrated philosophy for understanding herbs by their common herbal actions, drawing upon holistic herbalism and traditional Western herbal foundations. By the end of this course, you will feel confident in how to make your own herbal medicines and integrate their use into your daily life. Note: This course serves as the foundation for our Holistic Herbalism Certificate.

HYBRID SPRING 2027 (REGISTER HERE) – This class meets on Zoom select Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm and two in person Saturdays May – September 2027.
On Zoom: May 25th, June 15th, July 6th, July 20th, August 3rd, August 24th – 2027
In Person: at O-An in Julian, PA 10am-330pm: May 1st and September 11th, 2027
Can’t make all the dates? If you are interested in the certificate program but can not make all of the dates, lecture portions of class will be video recorded and available for a limited time after each session. Up to five hours of class (one in person class or two hybrid classes) can be made up via these videos or by making up in another class. If preferred, private in person makeup sessions will be available at an additional cost.
Investment
Full Course and Materials: Sliding Scale $475-675. Includes manual and herbal starter kit. Herbal teas are provided for in person classes. Payment plans available at no additional cost, after paying the deposit email for details. Without a payment plan, tuition for must be paid in full by March 15th, 2027.
We do offer a partial scholarship spot in each class, please reach out for details if the cost is prohibitive to you taking the course. We strive to make herbal medicine accessible to all.
A $100 non-refundable deposit holds your space in class and goes towards tuition. Please note that remaining tuition can only be refunded if you cancel your class reservation before March 15th, 1017 so that we have time to fill from our waitlist. Please see our policies page for more details.
