Acute Herbalism: Herbs for UTIs, Migraines, and Nausea (Indiana, PA)

Acute Herbalism refers to using herbal medicine to treat sudden or severe health concerns, including nausea, flu, infection, injury, or pain.  In this class, we will discuss the different categories of acute herbalism (wound care, flu and fever support, managing nausea, addressing migraines, addressing injury, and managing pain) and what preparations to have on hand and available for the common concerns people experience. This class deepens and extends our discussion of the herbal home apothecary (the October class), although you do not need to take that class to learn from this one.  We will then apply herbal energetics to formulate medicine for several common acute concerns: headaches/migraines, nausea/vomiting, and urinary tract infections. Through creating these formulations together, we will discuss how to use herbal energetics to address acute concerns.  All participants will have an opportunity to formulate and take home an herbal medicinal tincture for an acute care need.

Instructor and Location:  Dana Driscoll, Co-Founder of the Pennsylvania School of Herbalism.  Location is in Indiana, PA at the Artist Hand Gallery (studio space).

Level: Intermediate to Advanced (recommended 20 hours of formal herbal education and/or enrollment in our Foundations of Holistic Herbalism Certificate course).  This class will be applying Traditional Western Energetics (hot/cold, tense/lax, dry/damp), so ideally, participants should have had exposure to these concepts prior to the course.

Cost:  $25-45 sliding scale (pay what you can afford or want to pay)

Credits: 2 hours Formulation and Clinical Approaches credits towards our 50-hour Holistic Herbalism Certificate.
