Healing from the Bee Hive – An Introduction to Medicinal Uses of Honey and Propolis – with Dana Indiana, PA
For thousands of years, bees have offered some of the world’s most treasured medicines. In this introductory class, we’ll explore the remarkable healing gifts of the hive, focusing on honey and propolis and their traditional uses in herbal medicine. We’ll discuss the medicine of raw honey including for external wound care and internal healing. We’ll also examine the unique properties of propolis, including its traditional role in supporting immune health, for herbal first aid, and addressing common infections. Along the way, we’ll explore quality considerations, preparation methods, and the deep relationship between herbalists, bees, and healthy ecosystems. Everyone will have a chance to create a honey-based herbal preparation as part of this class. Honey and Beeswax from McCormick farms will also be available to purchase.
