DESCRIPTION:Both our Foundations Programs in 2026 are currently full but we have a waitlist which you can register for. We have enough interest that we are working to see if it is possible to run one more  Foundations class in 2026 that will start in August 2026. Once details are arranged those on the waitlist will be notified first! \nThis class if FULL for 2026\, there is a waitlist sign up available on this page if you are interested if a space opens. \nThis course functions as the foundation of our Holistic Herbalism Certificate and covers a range of herbal practices.  Please see the Foundations of Holistic Herbalism Course for more details. \nThis class meets once a month on a Sunday 10-330pm May-September 2026: \nMay 17th\, June 14th\, July 26th\, Aug 23rd and Sept 27\n A $75 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your spot in class\, this goes towards the full tuition\, which is sliding scale $375-570. SUMMARY:Free Community Class: Frontier Herbalism: Traditional Herbalism Practices in Western Pennsylvania
DESCRIPTION:Join Dana Driscoll from the Pennsylvania School of Herbalism to learn about how people in previous centuries used plants for medicinal purposes in our ecosystem.  We will cover a number of plants growing in our ecosystem that have been used as traditional medicine\, including sassafras\, black birch\, willow\, plantain\, comfre\,y and hawthorn.  We will also have a chance to meet these plants and trees and learn about their identification\, core medicinal uses\, and make medicine from some of them.  Participants will have a chance to make several traditional plant preparations\, including poultices\, tinctures\, and salves.  An optional donation for $5 for supplies. \nThis event is being offered free to the community and in conjunction with the Indiana County 1776 speaker series and the Indiana County Friends of the Parks. \nLocation: Yellow Creek State Park (Indiana County)\, Woodland Pavilion \nTime: 5-7pm \nThis class offers 1 credit of medicine making as part of the Pennsylvania School of Herbalism’s Certificate Program.  \nNo pre-registration is required–just show up if you want to attend!
